Dr. Mieke Matthijs
Utrecht University
Title: Why homogeneity and shedding reduction are critical in disease control

 

 

Born in Ghent, Belgium in 1973 and graduated as veterinarian from Ghent University, Belgium in 1998. Mieke then moved to the University of Utrecht –the Netherlands- and completed her PhD in 2008 on "Pathogenesis of colibacillosis in broiler chickens infected with virulent and vaccine strains of infectious bronchitis virus".
Since then she is head of the department poultry health and teaching students in poultry management and disease control. She is involved in poultry research with special interest in infectious diseases and immunology.
