Title: The Impact to Avian Influenza Epidemic by Interventions to Live Poultry Market

 

 

Biography

Professor Ming Liao has been working for College of Veterinary Medicine of South China Agricultural University since 1997. From 2003 to 2004, he was learning in Dept. of Microbiology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, as a Visiting Scholar. From 2002 to 2008, he served as the vice dean and dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2006, he got the special government allowance and was elected in New Century Talent Supporting Project by Ministry of Education. In 2008, he was employed as distinguished professor for the Pearl River Scholars in Guangdong Province. He was also selected for “Millions of Talents Project” of Nation in 2009, and the Outstanding Talents in Scientific Research, China Ministry of Agriculture in 2012.
His research interests are infectious diseases of animals, with an emphasis on emerging zoonotic viral infections. His current research focuses on epidemiology, mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing vaccines for different viral pathogens, such as avian influenza virus, and Salmonella etc.

  • Vice Director of Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine
  • Head of Animal Influenza Expert Group, The National Expert Committee on Animal Epidemic Prevention
  • Director of National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Medicament of Zoonosis Prevention and Control
  • The academic leader of preventive veterinary medicine of SCAU which is a National Key Disciplines
  • Editor in Chief of Poultry Raising and Disease Control
