Title: A Survey on Changes Observed in IBDV Antigenicity

 

 

Biography:

Professor Hermann Müller received his Veterinary Degree (Approbation) from the University of Giessen, Germany, in 1970, and his PhD in 1974. After working one year as a veterinary practitioner, he was a staff scientist at the Federal Research Center for Virus Diseases of Animals in Tübingen, Germany, from 1972 to 1974. He then joined the Institute for Virology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Giessen, where he remained until 1993. He received his State Doctorate (Habilitation) in Virology in 1986, and he was appointed to an Extra-Ordinariate (Außerplanmäßiger Professor) in 1992. From 1993 until his retirement in 2010 he had a professorship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Leipzig, Germany, where he was the Director of the Institute for Virology. His research focused on the identification of avian viral pathogens, specifically infectious bursal disease virus and avian polyomaviruses, and on elucidating the molecular basis of the pathogenesis of important avian virus diseases. He has authored or co-authored over 150 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 15 book chapters, and numerous other publications. Research was mainly funded by programs of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG; German Research Foundation), Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, various programs of the European Commission, and the poultry industries.
