Dr.Rex Newkirk

Title: Feed Processing for Performance and Profit

 

 

Biography
Dr. Rex Newkirk is an Endowed Research Chair in Feed Processing Technology and Associate Professor at the University of Saskatchewan.  In this role he is the scientific lead for the Canadian Feed Research Centre, a unique $13.3 Million dollar centre which opened in the fall of 2014.  This centre has the ability to produce feed using a full range of technologies at Lab (100 kg batches), Pilot (5 tonnes/hour) and Industrial (20 T/hour) scale.  Dr Newkirk joined the University of Saskatchewan in November of 2015 and is actively involved in a wide range of research with a focus on commercial applications.  Prior to returning to the University of Saskatchewan, Rex was Vice President of Research and Innovation at the Canadian International Grains Institute where he worked for 12 years to provide technical support and product and processing innovations to companies around the world.  Rex has worked extensively throughout Asia, Europe, North and South America and has also worked in the Middle East and Australia.
